Who are the Travel Specialist Group?

We are a small, passionate team of travel experts. We’ve worked for over 40 years in the industry but more importantly, travelled extensively and lived in both Latin America and Asia.

Travel often means adventure, going into the unknown; but it shouldn’t mean you end up feeling vulnerable, short-changed or disappointed. We’ve heard countless tales of holiday let-downs: the tour operators who didn’t deliver, the agents with no local insights or contacts. We got thinking and shared what we’d have done to help create the perfect trip, the special touches we’d have made to the long-awaited, priceless family experiences and bucket-list getaways.

 

It’s about visiting Machu Picchu before the crowds arrive, searching out the coolest tango bar in Buenos Aires, arranging a gourmet picnic in wild Patagonia or a private plane into the jungle in Costa Rica. It’s not just getting there, it’s the extra touches once there.

We do our best to always support local businesses and communities we touch. We carefully select our local partners so that our journeys make a difference to the places you’ll visit. We believe that travel helps bring us together, it educates and creates a better world. To mitigate environmental damage we suggest our partners at Clear Offset and we’ll add these costs to every trip. We accept that travel and sustainability is an ongoing and essential debate. We won’t always be on the right side, but we will strive to do the right thing always.

The personal touch runs through everything The Travel Specialist Group does. It’s now more important than ever. We won’t leave you waiting around, we’ll be with you every step of the way. Unlike many other travel companies, we place customers money in a trust fund. It is used to pay for your travel and never spent on anything else, this simple measure helps protect you if anything happens outside of normal. We do also insist on taking out health insurance that actually protects you. We have a partner who offers fantastic insurance for all ages, health conditions and cases. The reason we insist on this when you book is quite simply to protect you. We have your money safe, but we have to pay deposits to suppliers, they often have to reserve items, so the insurance covers the gap.
